I'm a student with a Mac laptop on which I take notes. My school has an Internet network. I get distracted during class.
I found this wonderful Mac app called SelfControl, but activating and deactivating it multiple times a day is a real drag.
Is there a way I can schedule SelfControl, or otherwise schedule Internet accessibility, using an AppleScript or otherwise, in order to keep me on track during class? Preferably the solution should be just as 'desperate Internet addict'-proof as is SelfControl.

You could do a combination of iCal (suggested here User friendly way to schedule jobs in Mac OS X) and add all the naughty (using this term loosely) places into a daytime (school time) temp host file. So at certain times of the day you swap hosts file. So from 9-4 your host entry for www.facebook.com is 127.0.0.1.
Not the most awesome solution but it will work. Unless you surf via typing in the IP address -- but who does that? ;)

Up to now, this has been seamless, far superior to the Mac Mail/Contacts programs and allows me to use bot Mac and Windows platforms interchangeably.

I recently added a second Outlook 365 exchange account, which I want to set as my new default email, contacts and calendar in Outlook 2016 for the Mac. and for Windows. This was easy to change on the PCs - just change the default data file in Outlook/Account Settings to the new exchange account, and all work like a charm in Outlook 2016 for Windows. I have also copied all my contacts and calendar entries and Outlook folders from the old exchange account to the new exchange account, as I want to use the original exchange account only for occasional emails, but not for any other functions.
However, this has been a challenge in Outlook 2016 for the Mac. I have changed the new exchange account to be the 'default' account in Outlook 2016 for Mac/Preferences/Accounts. However, this has not changed the default Calendar to the new account. Rather, all new appointments made on or through the Mac are being saved to the old calendar. My Mac OS is OS X El Capitan, in case that is important.

The Competition
Apple’s own Calendar (Free) app is the most obvious alternative here, and as a free option, it’s the first one you should try out. If you just need a barebones calendar that shows you events, Calendar does the job perfectly fine. The biggest issue with Calendar is its general lack of advanced features, including the bizarre lack of Reminders integration. There’s also no menu bar app for Calendar, which is a shame, because that’s one of Fantastical’s biggest strengths.

I downloaded this program and then saw in the comments that Mac has a similar option pre-installed by turning on certain things in the Sound/Universal Access system preferences. I decided to try this program anyway, after using the Apple solution for a day. Typewriter Keyboard is remarkably better... first because you don't have to live with a slow keystroke repeat, which honestly drove me crazy. And second because you can turn off sounds for certain keys (like shift, command, ctrl, option, esc...) and you can play different sounds for different keys (like delete, space, enter). It really is a completely different kind of solution than the Apple one (and much preferred if you ask me). So, since it's free to tryout, I would definitely give both solutions a go. You might be annoyed by typing sounds on a keyboard and it's not worth the $15 bucks (honestly I'm not sure after only two days if I'll purchase the program), but to say you get the same experience from both solutions is a falsity.
